Today (3/31/09) Judge Edward Lodge of the Federal District Court for Idaho granted Western Watersheds Projects Motion for Summary Judgment and Ordered the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to complete a 12 month finding on the status of the Big Lost River Whitefish. That status review and listing decision will be due to be issued 12 months from today. This is a great opportunity to protect this remarkable fish that has been isolated from all other whitefish for more than 10,000 years.
