Every day, Western Watersheds Project works to protect and restore western public lands, watersheds, and wildlife from the degradation that is caused by livestock grazing. But it isn’t every day that a feature length film tackles the issue!

A new documentary, “Cowspiracy – the Sustainability Secret” boldly examines the effects of animal agriculture on the environment.  Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged virtually all of the major environmental organizations.

Film makers Kip Anderson and Keegan Kuhn are beginning a western tour with their groundbreaking film on July 15th in San Diego.  After each showing there will be a Q & A with the film makers and also a panel discussion.  Western Watersheds Project is sponsoring the Idaho premiere at 7:00 on Tuesday, July22nd at the Magic Lantern Cinema in Ketchum, ID.  Additionally, WWP staff and Board Members will be present at screenings and participate in post-film panel discussions at different locations throughout the West:

  • Wed – July 16th, Phoenix, AZ – WWP Deputy Director, Greta Anderson
  • Mon – July 21st, Salt Lake City, UT – WWP Advisory Board Member, John Carter
  • Tue – July 22nd, Ketchum, ID – WWP Executive Director, Travis Bruner
  • Wed – July 23rd, Bend, OR – WWP Board Director, George Wuerthner
  • Thu – July 24th, Portland, OR – WWP Board Director, George Wuerthner

Visit https://cowspiracy.com/ to learn of the complete list of screening locations,  to purchase tickets in advance or see trailers from the film.  As eye-opening as Blackfish and as inspiring as An Inconvenient Truth, this shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact of animal agriculture on our planet, and offers a path to global sustainability for a growing population.
